Riding Down the Path

New mountain bikers must start somewhere. The trick is to choose a trail that’s fun and as frustration-free as possible for the voyage. With days getting warmer in the Spring biking is a great way to get back outdoors. The Big Chief Loop bike trail inside Dead Horse Point State Park is a 7.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Moab, Utah. The trail offers amazing views and is one of the easiest mountain biking in the Moab area, though it is just technical enough to keep advanced riders just as interested. The trail offers many activity options and it’s best if you visit the trail from March through October.

The trail starts from the North end of the visitor center parking. It goes over red rock, packed dirt, and the occasional loose sand. Like I mentioned before, the bike trail offers some breathtaking views. There are designated areas where you can pull your bike off the trail and take in the view. The Pyramid lookout gives you the best view of the valley, that looks south and gives you a view of the Colorado river.

The trail flows well and is a joyful ride. Riders of all ability levels will have a good time. There are no scary tricky challenges, and no painful long climbs. If you’re looking to suffer, visit another place. This trail is a place you take your family and friends so you can get them addicted to mountain biking.
